Merksem, Belgium the 13th of April 2009, photographer Jorden Hellemans closes the door of his house behind him and starts to walk towards the South, towards the place of pilgrimage Santiago de Compostela.
This exhibition is a photographic survey of his 100 days journey, a journey passing pilgrimroads that have been used for ages. He faced with surprises, misery, happiness and a huge hospitality.
Jorden travelled through Belgium (Mechelen – Brussels – Namur), whole France (Reims – Châlons-en-Champagne – Auxerre – Vézelay – Limoges – Périgueux – St-Jean-Pied-de-Port) and the North of Spain (Roncesvalles – Pamplona – Logroño – Burgos – León – Ponferrada – Sarria) to arrive at the capital of the green Galicia, Santiago de Compostela.
Santiago de Compostela is being visited for ages by pilgrims because acording to the legend the body of apostle Jacob was been buried on this spot. Later on the wonderful cathedral would rise above his grave.

eerst en vooral voor het lopen van de camino, voor het overmaken van het geld van de sponsors aan de vzw “kinderen van Cambodja en voor de mooie foto’s vol emoties en intimiteit.
Spijtig dat het commerciële onder elke foto zo sterk in de verf werd gezet : dit was een anticlimax (voor mij althans)

Heel veel succes! Het spijt me dat ik niet naar je vernissage ben kunnen komen. Gelukkig is je tentoonstelling nog open. Ik wil ze zeker niet missen … , hoe zou ik ook.
